Possible defects on the handle:
- Unusually large knot
- Very uneven or asymmetrical color tone/pattern.
- Cracks in the handle grain (these have been repaired)

Possible defects on the blade:
- Markedly uneven grinding
- Lacks etching on the blade
- Scratches
